What Are Affirmations, and Do They Work?
When I was in a low-mood state, my mind was always calibrated to a hostile place; having spent many years in survival mode, I was not primed to rely on spiritual practices to relieve my mental and spiritual anguish. I was skeptical, as many are.
In the Western world, we tend to prioritize diagnosing a problem rather than looking at the state of the whole being. When I came across Deepak Chapra's The Path To Love, his writing spoke to me, and a part of myself I didn't know was missing, my soul. I decided to explore this new awareness and have believed in this mindset practice ever since. The work of Deepak Chopra highly influences my teachings. Therefore, I teach a similar framework to my students.
I always recommend starting any transformation journey with a mindset primed for success. If one genuinely desires change and transformation, they must first feel it in their hearts and believe it will happen; the affirmations support the visualization and confidence needed to expect the desire to flourish.
Affirmations are a loving practice that shines a light on our shadows. From a spiritual point of view, affirmations help us transform low energy and limiting beliefs into our desired outcomes. build on the yogi mantra that where the mind goes, energy flows; we can visualize and send energy to repair the tired and clouded mind. Each beautiful affirmation we speak, feel and imagine aids us in rewiring our brains, and the outcome dramatically improves our situations. Repeating affirmations help us evolve into heart-centred and compassionate beings.
Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes. I recommend doing these affirmations and intention exercises repeatedly, just like any other maintenance ritual you have. Think of affirmation work, like that glass of water you need after an exhausting workout.
